On April 5th, 2006, in a small storage unit on Baseline Road, Island Ship Center began operations, as a FedEx Authorized ShipCenter® and a dream: To build an exemplary community business that would serve the needs of our area through shipping and other relevant services.
In April 2008, we moved to our current location on Whitehaven Road into a former office building with 850 square feet of space and added copy services. At that time our copy prices were 20 cents for black and white copies and 45 cents for color copies. Here we are today, exactly 17 years later, with 3000 square feet of space, 60 plus services and continued vigor to fulfill our mission and make our dream a reality every day. To celebrate this milestone and all the community members that helped us achieve it, we are locking our original copy prices for another three months, despite all the increase in paper and supplies over the past two years. We are so thankful for all of you, who have supported us throughout this period, with your kindness, trust, business and referrals, that we have to show a token of our heartfelt gratitude.
Please take advantage of this special offer and share it with your friends: 17 Years – Island Ship Center
There are so many people we want to thank today, but we just don’t have the time to list every single person who has helped us reach this stage. However, there are a few individuals (besides our immediate family members) who we have to name specifically because their involvement has been especially instrumental in reaching our present state. They are: Steve and Erin Merrick, our official business mentors and heartfelt well-wishers in Charlotte, North Carolina, Larry and Jayne Playfair, the owners of our building and our advisors every step of the way, RJ and Audra Wynne, our amazing CPAs, Andrea Tarshus, our spectacular business attorney, Eric Fiebelkorn and his awesome team at the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce, our friends Matt Grimaldi and Professor Patrick Tutka, Greg Kaiser and Susan Pitruzzella from M&T Bank, Kim, Brad and the entire board at AMBC, the industry non-profit association that has truly helped our business grow, and Ryan McCarthy, our amazing website guru, client, mentor and dear friend, without whom the entire presentation of IslandShipCenter.com would not be possible.
And finally, we wanted to take a moment to highlight what we do in a “mini-bio,” created so graciously by our dear friend and mentor, Marty Johnson, from Uncle Marty’s Shipping Office, in Ithaca, NY (located right on the Cornell college campus). He has been guiding us through our recent business growth since 2015 and knows our business very well. So, we asked him to write a paragraph about ISC that we can provide anyone looking for a comprehensive view of our business. What he wrote was truly exceptional and, although we feel undeserving, we had to share it with you:
