This week, during the worst cold weather in decades, while the schools were closed, one of my clients came from Tonawanda to fax some confidential documents.
She’s a bus driver for the Grand Island Schools. I asked her why she had come to the Island that day since the schools were closed. She told me that she had to fax important, private papers to her attorney and she would go nowhere else to fax them except to my store, since she knew that these papers would be faxed and returned with the utmost secrecy.
I’m honored to be trusted with such confidential documents. Every day, people come from miles to fax, copy, scan and laminate very private documents and they know that their data & privacy are both safe and secure in my hands. My parents raised me with this high honor code and my wife & I try to pass it on to our kids.
As Zig Ziglar so eloquently stated, “If people like you they’ll listen to you, but if they trust you, they’ll do business with you.”
This trust is what differentiates my small business from other off-island competitors. My clients know and trust me to do the right thing, even if they’re not watching me.
I’m thankful to the community for this trust and only hope to increase it in the future by standing firm on my code of honor.
