In the past two weeks, all of our lives have been completely changed by the COVID-19 pandemic, causing us to reflect, reorganize and remain indoors for most of the time. We are hearing many positive stories coming out of this seemingly depressing and negative state, allowing us to look at the bright side of even this time in our lives. People are connecting with neighbors, family and loved ones, even if it’s just through technology and not physical contact. We humans are also learning to collaborate, empathize and show our immense kindness to others, in order to get through this crisis.

As you know, all non-essential businesses in New York State will remain closed for the foreseeable future, until this situation is resolved and we come out healthier and safer. During this present time, we at Island Ship Center find ourselves to be on the “frontlines” of this crisis at the store, since “mailing & shipping services” are deemed “essential businesses” by the Department of Homeland Security.

Rest assured, we are doing everything possible to remain safe, sanitized and open throughout this time in order to serve your emergency mailing, shipping and printing needs. We have temporarily eliminated all printed receipts for prepaid, drop-off packages, allowing you to take a picture of the label before dropping off the box; we have requested half of our team to remain at home and safe; we have instituted extra sanitary practices to our existing daily cleaning routine; and above all, we provide free delivery for print jobs on the island for those residents requiring homework materials for their kiddos that are at home. They can pay over the phone for the print jobs and not have to worry about coming in to pick them up.

During this time, please continue to remain indoors and reach out to neighbors via phone or text, making sure they’re safe and healthy. If you need us, we are here for you. Please keep a safe distance from everyone when venturing out and know that we all will get through this, learning many lessons along the way.

We thank you for your trust, empathy, kindness, and collaboration.

With gratitude, resilience, and optimism,

Fahim & Seema Mojawalla, Owners

Island Ship Center
