There are many people who have helped me reach a milestone in business on the Island. Two of those people are Doug & Polly Smith, formerly of Grand Island (for many years) and now of Cortland NY. Doug has been a true mentor to me and his Niagara Gazette column included many salient features about my business through the years.
Seema and I printed out his postcards this year, so he and Polly could mail them out to friends and family before the move.
As you can imagine, I was truly overjoyed (even more effervescent than normal), when he and Polly made a surprise visit to Island Ship Center yesterday, just to say, “Hello!” The couple was in town for a momentous occasion: Doug was rightfully inducted into the Western New York Baseball Hall of Fame for his prolific, humorous and creative sports writing in various newspaper columns over the course of 50 years (that’s some feat!).
I’m truly honored and joyful to know such people and feel even more joyous that they would stop by their short visit to Grand Island, even for a few minutes, for salutations and a private tour. While Polly sat in their lovely orange car, talking to Dana from Dana’s Stylin’ Pets (who conveniently was shopping at our store at the same time that Doug & Polly arrived), Doug accompanied Seema for a tour of our new 24 hour business center and mailbox facility on the side of the building and he loved it.
Relationships, when cultivated and sincerely cherished, are the backbone of society, business and life. Thank you again for your trust and business.
With gratitude, effervescence and mirth,
Fahim Mojawalla
