What is the difference between a private mailbox at Island Ship Center and a PO Box at the US Post Office?
With a mailbox at Island Ship Center, you get a real street address, not a P.O. Box number.
If you’re a business owner, having a real street address as your mailbox can provide you with a professional image for your business. Island Ship Center also offers many additional services that the post office does not, such as package acceptance from all carriers, package notification via email and call in service, all aimed to save you valuable time. Plus, with the rise of identity theft, you now don’t have to expose your home address as your physical address online; you can always use your private mailbox address from Island Ship Center.
Your mailing address will be the address of Island Ship Center location, with either PMB (private mailbox) or the pound symbol (#) designating your individual box. Instead of Island Ship Center, your name appears first.

Island Ship Center offers various mailboxes sizes for various needs: personal, business and corporate sizes.
Complete an application or stop by our location to discuss the steps to opening a mailbox. You will need to provide two valid forms of identification, one of which must include a photograph.
The mailbox service agreement is an agreement between Island Ship Center and the box holder for the duration you receive mail at our location.
You can visit the store and complete the form 1583 and all the other required paperwork.
We can also explain the other services we offer and show you our 24 hour mailbox area as well as the sizes of mailboxes.

Three months is the minimum mailbox service period; after the first three months you can change to monthly.
We do offer specials, where the 4th month is free when you pay for 3 months; plus, you get 2 months free when you pay for 6 months; and, you get 15 months for the price of 12 if you pay for our yearly mailbox service.
With your mailbox agreement, you can receive packages from any carrier, including. FedEx, UPS, USPS and DHL. You can receive up to 4 packages per month without any charge. After the 4th package, we will charge $2 per package received, up to 25 pounds. Additional fees will be charged for packages over 25 pounds.
Yes. we can hold your mail for you until you return from a long business trip or a relaxing vacation.
We ask that you pick up your mail on a regular basis; please let us know if you will be away.
We also offer a mail forwarding service for our snowbirds and those leaving for extended periods of time.

Mailbox holders may have 24-hour access to their box with their 24-hour keyless entry access, which is part of the setup cost when buying the mailbox service for various periods of time. We have made a special side-entry door to the building, which opens into our private mailbox area and is safe, well-lit and private enough for you to take care of your business and mailing needs.
You can add the names of up to 5 individuals/businesses authorized to receive mail at your mailbox. Each recipient will need to provide two valid forms of identification in order to complete the mandatory PS Form 1583. Each add-on pays a $5.00 set up fee. You can permit people to pick up your mail by lending them the key to your mailbox. Possession of the mailbox key shall be considered valid evidence that the possessor of the key is duly authorized to remove any contents from the mailbox. We cannot hand out mail to anyone not listed as the owner of the box.
Yes. In addition to postage stamps, Island Ship Center also offers domestic and international services including Priority Mail®, Express Mail®, Parcel Select Ground®, First Class®, Delivery Confirmation™, Certified Mail and Return Receipt. A surcharge is applied to all Postal Services purchased at our location.
Your mail can be stored for as long as you need it. Holding of mail is free for the first 30 days, and if you need storage for a longer period of time, you can do so for a small additional monthly fee.
Our mail forwarding service ensures that you receive only the packages and letters you really want. You simply choose which items you want, where and when you want them sent, and we’ll forward them on to you at any destination in the world! You can choose the service level of forwarding from First Class, Priority Mail, Priority Express, UPS, FedEx and DHL. The cost for forwarding is $5.00 plus the cost of our regular shipping rates for the service requested. This is a great service for snowbirds, RVer’s, students, military personnel, frequent travelers and those living overseas for extended periods of time.
When adding an account for another person, they must fill out the US Postal 1583 form. If you will be receiving mail for an estate, please attach an executor’s letter as well as a power of attorney.
We have added a new service that will email you when new 1st class mail arrives for you. This additional feature is available for $10.00 per month. Alternatively, you can call or email us any time and we’ll let you know for free if mail is in your box or not, thereby saving you a trip.
Yes. We offer U.S. Postal Service stamps and other mail services. There is a service fee added to postal services and stamps.
We do NOT carry any international or postcard stamps.
