It’s been an interesting 10 days here at Island Ship Center, especially after the 2nd blizzard of the season on Wednesday!
My wife & I have been busy packing and shipping a lot of precious items, including some very personal mementos and relics.
This week, a Bible was delivered to Nichole in Las Vegas. She’s the daughter of a gentleman who fought in Vietnam and carried that Bible with him. When Nichole was born, he was in Vietnam and received notice of his daughter’s birth on a piece of paper. That same Bible was carried by his dad (Nichole’s grandfather) in WWII!
I was very honored and proud to pack & ship this precious item to Nichole this week:
Included in the package to Nichole was also this frame of her maternal grandfather, who was a pilot in WWII and flew B-17’s:
The same day that I packed and shipped personal items to Nichole, I had another client come in to ship some of her father’s belongings to her relative in California. Her father was retired from the U.S. Navy and had recently passed away, so she was sending some of his precious items to the rest of the family in California. Among these items was this Flag of Honor, given to her late father for his dedicated service:
And finally, I have a client who, at the ripe age of 84, ships interesting gifts to her grandchildren in Texas. Here are two of the items she sent this week:
The first piece is a small dress shirt, made out of $1 bills! It is handmade in Amherst by a woman artist. I held the 2nd piece so my wife could take the picture: It’s a handmade Pueblo shawl with an intricate design. Most of these shawls are now made by machine so this piece is quite valuable.
Thanks again for helping me and my family make memories for you and your families.
With effervescence and mirth,
Fahim Mojawalla
